I have had the worst experience with hosting 1and1. I cancelled there service by phone, they said go online, cancelled online, then they said its not cancelled and they kept billing me.

I had to dispute with my credit company over 10 times with this company, everytime I won and they still billed my credit card.

The only thing that stopped 1and1 webhosting from stopping to bill me is when i threatened to report them to the ftc. I saw this tip on another forum.

Please report 1and1 to the ftc if you experience the same problem. I think 1and1 is riping people off and taking advantage of billing by charging them when user dont use 1and1 webhosting service even.

I have had no billing issues, and I did cancel 1 of my 3 accounts the way they instructed. I fully expected there to be a delay before the contract was really cancelled. Their T&C says as much.

Why is it that only unhappy people ever post about companies?

[b:641f1104a2]Report 1and1 web hosting to the Federal Trade Commission for there billing and cancellation practices.[/size:641f1104a2][/b:641f1104a2]

Well unhappy people post so that others users will let others know.
I will tell you this I reported them to the [b:641f1104a2][u:641f1104a2]Federal Trade Commission[/u:641f1104a2][/b:641f1104a2], and I told them as well. As sooon as I did I got 5 months of billing back.

Again I dont want anything for free, I just dont want to pay when I dont use the service, and I hate how 1and1 makes it so difficult to cancel your service. Stay far far away from [b:641f1104a2]1and1 webhosting service[/b:641f1104a2] - [u:641f1104a2]1and1 webhosting service offers excellent pricing[/u:641f1104a2] but its not worth the hassel when you try to [u:641f1104a2]cancel[/u:641f1104a2]. 1and1 I would never use again.

On a positive note, I do want to say I did not have any major problems with 1and1 webhosting service, my problem was with there support and service.

I think if enough people report 1and1 webhosting to the FTC I hope they will make it easier for users to cancel, there whole automated process and support reps are just awuful.

I have typed out my entire cancelling experience here: 1&1 Internet is the Worst Company in the Universe The bottom line is, they lie and threaten, and have no ethics whatsoever.

I had a couple of accounts with 1 and 1 Internet and had referred clients to them as well. Then their support went downhill - mostly overseas support and LONG hold times just to be told that level 1 support can not help etc.

I failed to read their Terms and Conditions because I was ignorant to the ways of 1 and 1. Every other host I've worked with sends multiple reminders of renewal - 1 and 1 sent one.

When my account was due for renewal, they tried to charge the credit card on my account which was no longer valid because of the expiration date. Because the charge did not go through, they immediately, that day, sent my account to collections and taked on about $30 worth of service fees. I cancelled my account with 1 and 1 immediately and called the collection agency to get things straightened out.

The collection agency they use NCO Financial is evern worse than 1 and 1.
They sent one statement for $24 saying they would report this on my credit report - I called immediately and was told that I actually oved them $54. I asked that they please send a statement for the correct/full amount so I can pay it and get rid of this whole situation once and for all. Since then, I've called them 5 times over 2 months to ask where my statement is? They state that I am stalling paying my bill! What bill! I can't even get them to mail it to me so I have a record of what they are saying I owe. 1and1 billing just says it's too bad and that I should have read the T&C - and yes it is very clear that this is their business practice. They are ovbiously not interested in keeping customers. If a person were out of town for two weeks, this could easily happen to them!

Stay away from 1 and 1 Internet. Their support is bad, the servers go down, the billing dept is rude, and the cancellation process is a nightmare.

Hello,
After I set 29 domain names to expire and notified 1and1 by email and phone, that i do not own fax and never signed for anything that requires to own fax, one day i found that all 29 renewed. Half of them were renewed using my credit card, and when it expired 1&1 opened me a "generous" credit line, and charged all domains. Since I did not ask for this credit, nor planned to renew those 29 domains, i refused to pay. I published article about this matter at hostingcompared.com. 2 days after 1and1 disabled 20 of my domains, which were paid, and never been part of any dispute (their logic that all domains come as "package"). It's been almost 3 month since i could use my domains...

I have started http://1and1sucks.info to collect signatures under petition to ICANN for Termination 1&1-ICANN Registrar Accreditation Agreement. I learned that there a MANY people like me,

Discussing this problems in blogs is nice, but kind of useless.
I would really appreciate if you could post your experiences to 1and1sucks.info
If for some reason it is not possible ( or you're just being too lazy), please place a bookmark to your "experience" into your favorite social bookmarking engine (like del.iciou.us) and mark it with "1AND1SUCKS" tag.
Thanks!

1and1 caused me great embarrassment when I allowed a domain name to expire, without having cancelled it (or for that matter renewed) it. I wanted it no more BUT having left an old credit card profile on my 1and1 records, they could not collect automatically. So without any warning or even threat (I usually spring to action on a threatening e-mail) they bunged the charge to their favourite Debt Collector plus £15 fee. Yes I think 1and1 sucks as well, but perhaps not sufficiently severe to invoke the big stick?

I am finding several Disgrunted 1and1 groups . Lawyers can write contracts and companies can sell services not just quite as they please !
I encountered my own groups and blogs and made several reports.
BBB lists 1and 1 as unsatifactory . That does send amessage.
if you want to discover more follow my links http://1and1blog.blogspot.com or http://1and1blogs.blogspot.com and http://1and1group.blogspot.com Rather than say 1and 1 sucks I rather take a more professional approach and wave 1and 1 Goodbye, why not it seems they want me to waive and waive and waive...
