Hi, Everyone! I am new to this forum. My name is Jackie and I am a single mom of two beautiful children. My dtr is 12 yrs old and my son is 7 yrs old. My 7 yr old suffers from ADHD, so parenting can be quite challenging at times. I live in New York City and I work full time. Unforutnately, I do not receive any child support due to the fact that both fathers worked off the books. So it is up to me to support my family on my own. I make a decent salary, but with over $1100 rent, $350 childcare per month, food, clothing, activities for the kids-who can manage it all? But with the grace of God, I have been able to manage everything and stay afloat for the past 12 yrs. In my spare time, I started a nationwide online single mothers support group (singlemomsnyc) on Yahoo. Our members are from all over the world-even as far away as India and South Africa. We have weekly group Yahoo chats, twice monthly meetings in NY and a very active message board. I find it very therapeutic to be able to relate to and vent to other single moms. Who understands better than someone else in your very own situation?
I hope to get to know everyone on the boards and become an active member.
