If you are looking for a moving company, ask around about their professionalism and the type of service. I had bad experience with Khan Movers of Montreal, QC. I'm very disappointed with their service and professionalism when I moved my 1-bedroom things from Ottawa to Vancouver.
First, all my things were loaded into their truck on Sep 17, and I was expected to have my things deliver to my place early Dec. I expected to receive my stuffs around that date. I finally received my things after 1 month while they promised to have my things to be delivered at most 3 weeks tme. I didn't get any appology from them for the delay, though they promised and delayed my shipment 3 times repeatedly. If you know that you are going to delay my shipment, don't even promise or at least inform me earlier so that I can prepare my things to move at an earlier date.
Second, I weighted all my things individually when I packed. It came to 1410pounds (plus or minus 100 pounds due to the inaccuracy of my weighter) When I received the bill, they billed me for 1600 pounds while they claimed that my shipment's weight was in fact very closed to 1600 pounds. There is a difference of 200+ pounds, and I really don't get it where it is from. They claimed that I was in fact billed fairly.
Third, during the time when I was packing, I called them whether they are going to pack my bigger electronics or furniture. They assured me that they are going to take care of all the things without any problem. I wasn't aware of the extra charges on my packing since in the quote they didn't specify any charges for packing. It's fair for me to assume that a small amount of packing is included in the moving quote, like wrapping the bed, the TV and the monitor. Later when I received the bill, then I found out the enormous 'special packing charges'.
I was wondering if anybody has the same bad experience with movers, especially long distance movers. I hate those people that are not honest and not professional. Mind telling your side of story so that to warn people about their bad services? I heard really bad stories about properties being damaged by these long distance movers.
