I was charged with attempted capital murder in 2000. I plea bargained for time served (4mths) and five years defferred adjudication.
My question is: My court appointed defense lawyer was at the same time my wife's divorce lawyer, is this conflict of interest; and if so, do I have any recourse after 6 years?
Also, exactly what does differed adjudication mean and how does it work? My attorney said the charges would not show as a conviction if I completed my Probation without incident.
It is basically a deferred sentence, meaning iI all the conditions of a community supervision or probation are met for an allotted time handed down by the court, no permament record of the crime will be made.
