Better lung capacity is describe as capacity of breathing. It is based on the person to person and depends on the sex, age, weight, and work. The average capacity of the lungs is around 5.8 liters but it varies from person to person, and also depends on many factors. The man has greater lung capacity than the women and it is 20 to 30 percent lower than the women. In USA majority of the people use to smoke the cigarette so their lung capacity gets reduce. In USA women and men are also smoking the cigarette so their lung capacity gets lower. If your pulmory capacity gets lower than it is essential to contact the pulmonologist.

The lungs can perform two types of function, one is inspiration and another is expiration. The inspiratory muscles contract, the diaphragm comes down and chest expands. The thoracic caries increases and stretch the lungs and the intrapulmonary increases. In the expiration, the inspiratory muscles loose, the diaphragm gets increases and chest gets come down and thoracic cavity decreases, causing the lungs to backlash, and the intrapulmonary quantity gets decreases. Pulmonary Function Tests can be applying to assess the lung capacity.
