| In case of sever condition surgery can be performed; the surgeon can remove a portion of bone, relieving pressure on the spinal cord. |

The surgery is the last resort of the arthritis if drugs and other therapy are not affected. In case of cervical arthritis, when the condition is severe the doctor suggest the surgery. Once X-ray, CT scan and MRI perform and doctor suggest the surgery.

Surgery can be used to fuse some of the cervical vertebrae, remove a damaged disk, or enlarge the spinal cord space by clearing it of bony spurs. Sometimes bone graft procedures are used.
