L- Lysine also contributes to energy production when converted to acetyl coenzyme A, one of the main fuels for the Krebs cycle. Lysine is important for correct growth and it plays a vital role in the production of carnitine, a nutrient dependable for converting fatty acids into energy and helping to lower cholesterol.
