What are Kidney Stones?
Kidney stones are actually a painful disease which is due to a solid mass in the kidney or urinary system, caused by the solidification of a dissolved substance in the urine.
Symptoms of Kidney Stones
Normally the first symptom is sheer pain the cause of the pain is the movement of the solid mass in the urinary tract, causing irritation or blockage. The person might feel a sharp and cramping pain around the kidney in body or in the lower abdomen, vomiting and nausea occur. In later stages the pain can be transferred or spread to the groin.
Simply we can set following rules as symptoms of kidney stones
Extreme pain in your back or side that will not go away.
Blood in your urine.
Fever and chills.
Vomiting.
Urine that smells bad or looks cloudy.
A burning feeling when you urinate.
The above may be signs of a kidney stone that needs a doctor's care.

Cause of Kidney Stones
Urinary tract infections, kidney disorders such as cystic kidney diseases, and certain metabolic disorders such as hyperparathyroidism are also linked to stone formation. In addition, more than 70 percent of people with a rare hereditary disease called renal tubular acidosis develop kidney stones.
Calcium is absorbed from food in excess and is lost into the urine. This high level of calcium in the urine causes crystals of calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate to form in the kidneys or urinary tract.

Treatment of Kidney Stone
Fortunately, surgery is not usually necessary. Most kidney stones can pass through the urinary system with plenty of water (2 to 3 quarts a day) to help move the stone along. Often, you can stay home during this process, drinking fluids and taking pain medication as needed. The doctor usually asks you to save the passed stone(s) for testing. (You can catch it in a cup or tea strainer used only for this purpose.
