In the cavity of several of your bones, such as your pelvic bones, is a red and spongy material called marrow. Marrow has a critical function. It contains the special cells called the cells of blood stem, which are precursors of other cells. The cells of stem in marrow produce cells of blood, cells red, white cells and plates which thereafter leave marrow and use your blood circulation. The cells of stem make also more cells of stem. Your marrow must continuously produce new cells of blood of all the types to replace the old ones. The red globules live approximately during 120 days, plates approximately seven days and the majority of the white cells of blood per day or less before they are employed and absorbed by your body.
