The actual cause of rheumatoid arthritis is not known, it is assume that the rheumatoid arthritis is due to infections with viruses or bacteria and in people with a genetic predisposition to the disease. Some patients experience a viral-type illness when rheumatoid arthritis began but it is not for all the cases. Some antibiotics treatment can improve rheumatoid arthritis a little bit, but their benefits seem to come from their anti-inflammatory action, not their bacteria-killing actions.

The other major factor is genetic factors that play a major role in RA. It is assume that as much as a 50 percent cases can be development through genetic factors. The environmental agent in the genetically predisposed person that initiates the self-perpetuating inflammation characteristic of RA. While it is clear that genetics are important, if you have RA, this does not at all mean that your child or grandchildren will develop it.

I think age can also be another factor.
