The calories in the foods are calculated on the basis of nutrients which contribute to the energy values in food are carbohydrates, protein, fat and alcohol. Every 1mg nutrients has its own calories value like protein 4kcal, fat 9kcal, carbohydrates 4kcal and alcohol 7kcal. Combine value of the all nutrients make up the total calories of the food.

There are other ways also available to measure the calories like the calorimeter. It is a device, which can measure when particular weighted sample of food is burn in the presence of oxygen.

The biologically presented energy from foods is articulated in values rounded off which is somewhat below those obtained in the calorimeter.

Does the calorimeter give perfect measure or any estimated figure? What is the exact measure of the calories in the food?
