Acupuncture is said to relieve pain and correct disorders in the body. Thin, solid needles of varying length are inserted into acupoints to a specific depth where they are twisted & left in place for periods ranging from a few minutes to nearly an hour depending upon the treatment.

National Institutes of Health found acupuncture effective in treating painful disorders of the muscle and skeletal systems. It was judged as a 'reasonable option' for the relief of post-operative pain and low-back pain.

Nearly 15 million Americans have tried Acupuncture therapy. It's gives relief to many chronic pain clinics, and is covered by some insurers and managed heath organizations. The World Health Organization recommends it for more than 40 conditions as diverse as asthma and chronic pain. Complex, long-standing problem such as arthritis, one or two treatments a week for several months is not uncommon. The cost generally runs $50 to $100 per session or more.
