Crop just means edit the .wav file down to the size you want your ringer to be. Just open it in Sound Recorder, play to where you want your ringer to start, and then go to edit>delete before current position. Play to where you want your ringer to end, and then go to edit>delete after current position. Save and use CDex to put it back into Mp3. Use BitPim.
