I am in the business of promoting Net detective software. I have depended heavily on doorway page software [b:a700dcc4fc]"Ranking power" [/b:a700dcc4fc]for too long until it eventually got my best sites into trouble with [b:a700dcc4fc]Google[/b:a700dcc4fc] and [b:a700dcc4fc]Yahoo[/b:a700dcc4fc]. I only very recently began building real content. I am slowly getting back on good terms with Google.
I have read that one site such as usdoj.gov are a great source of this kind of information, but when I tried that, I found it impossible to dig up any useful information buried under the hundreds of thousands of useless junk pages, mostly containing boring government statistics, court cases, etc... I figure news flashes such as Google alert might prove useful for learning about up-to-date information about such topics as identity theft.
The one aspect of article writing most important to me personally, that never seems to get much if any attention is how to become an effective researcher. To write about a particular subject, you must already be knowledgeable about it, or else you have to learn about it through good research so you can become an "authority" on the topic. Should I go about this by spending time at authority sites? I mostly want to write about investigative related topics such as crime, background checks and person searches. Should I consider buying a book on private investigation?
