A sub-section of this site, entitled "Impressions and Experiences" would add another dimension to the site. leave it with you. An example is what I wrote today:
______________
WAITING

I sit in a row of chairs opposite a Hertz rent-a-car desk, with Europcar, Avis and Budget rent-a-car desks off to the right and in the back section of this little pod of space at the Qantus end of the Launceston air terminal. I wait for my wife and her Jet-Star airbus to arrive from Melbourne. She has been there for one week taking care of my step-daughter’s two dogs. A dozen glossy posters with accommodation and information directions attract the eye. There is much to attract the eye for this is a busy place before planes arrive and depart.

Today is dull, cloudy, looks like rain. People walk around waiting for planes to land of to take off. The departure lounge, just a few feet away, fills up as the plane to Melbourne is about to take off. To my left, also a few paces away, a small restaurant offers people a place to sit, have a drink and some food at three or four times the normal cost in town. I walk, also to my left where the departure lounge window is filled with runways and the Blackstone Hills. No one seems to know their name but that is what is says on the map near the Budget rent-a-car desk. I move to the door where I know my wife walk through in just a few minutes from now. The plane lands, an airbus A320; it taxis along the runway and comes to a stop perhaps 40 yards from the entrance gate. I walk toward the gate and we greet each other like long lost friends.-Ron Price, Pioneering Over Four Epochs, 7 March 2007.

I’ve been coming here
for 34 years, more than
half my life; little did I
know when I came here
in September 1973 that
I would probably lay my
body in a grave several
decades thence just a few
kilometres from this airport.

I could not have predicted
such an eventuality at that
ripe age of 29, school teacher,
getting over a marriage, an affair,
lonely, alone at the ends of Earth,
about as far away from home on
this planet as I could be—for airports
are about changes, transitions from
one place and person to another, but
not now: this was about the familiar,
the comfortable and I planned to keep
it that way until the end of my days---
if I could and all being well, as they say.
